Today is November 15, 2021 and flights to Cuba will commence after a very long shut down.
But checking at the airfares to Havana from Miami, you would notice that something is amiss.
I am a frequent traveller and I cannot understand why a 42 minute flight from Miami should cost more than a Business Class ticket to Singapore from Miami?
Are the Europeans luckier?
For travel during the holiday season from Europe, an economy class ticket of around 1000 dollars is normal.
Outsiders, especially those living in the USA will not understand the extent of the suffocating laws their government has stabbed Cuba with..
They blame the Cuban government for the economic problems in the island without pointing out the hurdles one after another they have placed in the path of a small country with a progressive vision.
I look forward to a time, when the minds of both governments change towards mutual acceptance and tolerance of different view points and deserved prosperity for the people of Cuba and less vitriol from Miami.
I look forward to a time when there would be free flow of people, talent and warmth between Miami and Havana and that one can enjoy both countries, working and living in both.
