In this photograph, taken at the Beth Shalom Synagogue in La Habana, you see Adela Zworin, the President of the Jewish Community of Cuba, along with the then President Raul Castro and on her right, Eusebio Leal, the tireless Historian who worked to bring Havana to its previous glory while enhancing them.
I have a medal issued by his office in 1996 to commemorate the Jewish presence in Cuba and also a book about his journey in the eastern waters from Haiti to Cuba to retrace the route taken by the now extinct tribe of Taino Indians.
He will be missed ..
