I was talking to a good friend of mine who is living at the end of border of Colombian Amazon, at Puerto Narino. There had been a few cases of Covid 19 virus in this isolated village. and the local medicine men have been able to cure the ILLNESS using their traditional knowledge of the Forest.
I read that similar things were being done along the Brasilian Amazon as well and also heard that Yanomami had fled deeper into the forest to escape the virus when they heard about it.
A shaman of the Dessana indigenous group collects leaves of a medicinal plant on the outskirts of Manaus, the capital of Amazonas. He uses the plant, known as saratudo, to treat tribal members with symptoms of COVID-19. Hospitals and cemeteries in the city have been overwhelmed with victims of the pandemic.
The Brasilian amazon region has been hard hit with the Covid 19 Virus. Many of the tribes do not have immunity against any sort of virus illnesses not native to the region and had fallen prey to the Covid 19 infection.
My heart is with them.
