USA A RICH COUNTRY NOW NEEDS ISRAEL FOR ITS TECHNOLOGY AND CUBA FOR ITS HUMAN SOLIDARITY

I have chosen to love three different countries other than my own: USA , Israel and Cuba. This is the story about the three of them.

While hard hit countries like Spain and Italy are cautiously opening stores and insisting on continued good hygienic practices, as well as countries which managed to control the virus with less proportionate loss of lives like Germany and Austria, even thinking of reopening schools, the doomsayers are at the wicket hitting left and right to the boundaries.

I said to myself: USA could use with the technology of Israel and if they don’t wish to admit the superiority of Israelis in this regard, they could adopt the humble population oriented human approach of Cuba.

The confusion regarding information given out on the Television is incredible and how can we blame the people who do not know who to believe. Expert doctors are presented on TV who have no expertise on the subject, one such was a Dr Rodriguez who is a Lifestyle Doctor telling people about the Virus when not much is known about the virus. A neurosurgeon reading a Chest X-ray on TV which was not professional or correct, but an average non-medical American has no way of knowing these things. Emmanuel Macron of France and Angela Merkel of Germany apologized to their people for having not done enough, early enough to protect more people. No such thing here, only boasts , how wonderful things are. It is a surrealism of extreme political thinking. Here the news is a creation not a report of what has been, but conjecture about tomorrow. I remember that in totalitarian societies that kind of things happen, an Australian historian of Laos, had mentioned. But this is not a totalitarian country, we don’t have kings here as governor of New York State proclaimed. It would be good to be humble at times.

Here is a video about Israeli technology and how they have used it to protect their citizens. Hamas the terrorist organization found time to send rockets into Israel, and you would not know this, but to relieve the financial misery of the Gaza strip controlled by Hamas, the head of Shin Bet travelled to Qatar, to beg them NOT to stop the financial aid to Hamas!

When Palestinians wake up and make Israel their partner rather than an enemy, imagine how much more they could do employing  all these energies into building their state and be the most modern one in the Arab world, with the help of Israel, hope that awakening happens soon.

USA cannot be seen as losing face. They refused medical help from Cuba when Hurricane Katrina hit the coast. Right now, they do not want to accept donations from China, they don’t want to be seen as giving the Communist party of China a propaganda victory!

Cuba can help USA in so many ways, except the exploitation of the population of their ex-citizens now living in USA, the so called Cuban-Americans. One thing is social solidarity and here is the example of what Cuban medical students and health professionals are doing during this time of home isolation.

A friend of mine, a retired architect in the small town of Baracoa, who is taking care of her 83-year-old mother, wrote to me to say that each day, someone from the health department comes to enquire if everything is alright, she stressed that they maintain the social distance of 2 meters.

It is heartwarming for a humanitarian doctors to hear such warm human and kind stories from Cuba.

Ahora están en una batalla decisiva contra la COVID-19. Más de 28 mil estudiantes de ciencias médicas, junto a sus profesores y el personal de salud de la atención primaria tienen la responsabilidad de una gigantesca tarea.

Calle por calle, casa por casa, hacen las pesquisas cada vez más objetivas, insistiendo en conocer el estado de salud de los integrantes de la familia. Es importantesu  labor en medio de este combate donde el enemigo no tiene cara.

Una vez más los jóvenes cubanos escriben páginas de gloria en los barrios, hospitales, laboratorios y en la primera línea de enfrentamiento, a ellos nuestro agradecimiento.

28 000 Medical Science students from a population of 11.5 Million !

To give you the magnitude of this, it would be like nearly one million Health science students going from house to house in each and every town on a regular basis asking about the welfare of the population.

I do not see any such effort in Miami, apart from the politicians on the TV urging people to stay at home.  If you have an appointment for a corona virus test, the minimum waiting time at the station is 7 hours!

Health care providers are not standing in line to volunteer or go abroad to help poorer countries, especially here in Miami with its very high rate of immigrant doctors. I have observed that where there are a large number of immigrant doctors, public health service lags behind, because the majority of the doctors had migrated for economic betterment of their lives and not for the betterment of the health of the new societies they may not fully adopt into.

I really do not think a fiercely capitalist system applied to the Health Sector is compatible with good results for the population.

Both Israel and Cuba offer free health care to their populations.

USA a very large country occupying most of North America with 330 million people

 the figures from Israel:  98 per cent asymptomatic or mild symptoms, 2 per cent serious or critical  and 95% survived.

 In the USA 40 per cent of the persons admitted died with only 60 per cent survival.

Not comparable to any western countries or countries in Asia that has done extensive testing and got the people medical attention before it was further along the line.

We would learn a lot from these numbers but certainly the trend in the USA is much better than what the pundits are prognosticating on TV:

Even Brazil with very little medical (appropriate) medical care seems to be doing well in comparison.

 The situation in Philippines is comparable to the USA by these numbers.

I like the analysis of the numbers by the New York Times in which they look at RATE rather than absolute numbers.

When I look at these numbers, I feel sadness in the heart, each of these numbers were a person, a father or mother or a family members, they had to die without family or without friends nearby, some of them taken away in their prime..
