A WORD OF ADVICE TO PRIMARY CARE PROVIDERS,,,,,, REGARDING PATIENT CARE IN THE COMING DECADES ...LEARN TO BE GOOD GARDENERS AND NOT SHOPKEEPERS

In his powerful book, the influential Israeli historian, Yuval Noah Harari argues that within a decade or two, the role of the primary care provider would become redundant as more and more work would be taken over by Artificial Intelligence. The midlevel providers may disappear all together and the new generation of doctors would be freed to pay attention to social disorders, research into clinical practice rather than clinical practice. Community based workers, such as Peer Educators, would become prominent as health care would take prominence over Disease care.
I am beginning to see examples of these in many parts of the world.
The best Diabetes care is not in the offices of any doctor in Miami or Los Angeles but in the slums of Cambodia where the organization, MoPoTsyo.org trains slum dwellers to be their own lifestyle coaches, while providing the minimum medications necessary. The commercial aspect of Medical Care may disappear altogether as it is happening in many civilized countries.
Eventhough I am a specialist physician, I would welcome this change. This would allow me to be more effective in what I already do: treating the society and community rather than the individual.

Welcome to the NEW WORLD..
