2018
has been a good year for travel, and then again which year has not been?
My
love for Qatar Airways once again solidified, just in the recent six months I
have flown them
Miami
to Doha to Cochin
Cochin
to Doha to Brussels
Amman
to Doha to Miami
Brussels
to Doha to Colombo
Colombo
to Doha to Philadelphia
But
in the forthcoming trip to Asia I will miss them as I am flying to Europe first
on American
Brussels
Airways to Tel Aviv, then Ethiopian Airways to get to New Delhi (in transit to
Cochin for the Biennale) via Addis Ababa, Cochin via Bangalore and Kuala Lumpur
to Siem Reap (Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines), back to Kuala Lumpur on
Malaysian airlines to continue on them to Tokyo to connect with a Japan
Airlines flight to Boston, connecting to an American flight to Miami.
2019 is shaping up nicely,
Kuala
Lumpur to Miami/Havana via Tokyo
Miami
to Brussels via Madrid on American
London
to Madrid to Santiago de Chile and Easter Island for the annual Tapati
Festival..
This
year got to the Amazonia more than once, one trip more pleasant than the other;
four times to Israel only to increase the love for that most innovative
country, various stop overs in Qatar, an eye opening few days in Sri Lanka,
various visits to Cochin, Kuala Lumpur and yet another time to Cambodia…
In
each of these places I met with old and new friends and emphasized to myself
the aspect of living.. a life of giving what you have learned, so that their
life becomes a little better as well in the future
The
country I enjoyed being in most this year without doubt is Cuba.
In
fact, in a few hours time, I will be leaving the house of my sister in Miami to
go to the airport to fly to Havana. Such a short flight but what a great gulf
of difference in friendliness, culture, education and the warm welcome that
awaits me.. for example,
My
landlady wrote to me today:
I
have already called your driver and he would be waiting for you. I would have
liked to go to the airport but I am leaving early to go to your apartment to
prepare your lunch: Lobster and Steamed
Rice and Vegetables…
Ah
Well it is nice to go home once in a while…
