This was my first journey with Qatar Airways and I can assure you that it wont be the last. I am so very impressed with the service, the quality of service and the quality of their products in the air as well as at the Premium Lounge in Doha.
Admittedly you want a little comfort when you are flying 14 h 30 minutes from Houston to Doha and then 9 hours from Doha to Jakarta.
I will write a detailed account of this impressive trip on my travel blog www.themaninseat4D.blogspot.com..
Things that made this journey memorable:
The Staff of QR Qatar Airways at Houston, Doha and up in the air.. made a new friend M-Mr from KL.
Fellow passenger from IAH to DOH whose wide variety of interests afforded us a nice and long conversation.
The good selection of Food and Beverages, inluding Nespresso from IAH to DOH
Most of the Flight Attendants on both legs are Asian, from a wide variety of nations.
The Premium Lounge at DOH is exceptional, almost on par with Virgin Club at LHR and certainly much friendlier than the elegant Air France Lounge at Terminal 2E at CDG.
The quality of the amenities on board: for example, QR has paid attention to little details: the disposable shaver in the bathroom was Schick, a good quality pyjamas were available if you wanted to change into it, Salvatore F items on your travel kit.
I realized that flying North American and European Airlines would be difficult (especially the ageing FAs on United and other USA based Airlines).. The future of Commercial Aviation would be centred around the Gulf (Qatar, Etihad and Emirates) and the Asian based airlines (but not from India): Japan and South East Asia, China..
When I arrived at Jakarta, my friends were waiting at the terminal and within one hour and half we were in Bogor, ceremoniously breaking the Fast ..A Jew in the land of Moslems..
I have the greatest privilege of being associated with Native cultures of many continents.. thus satisfying my curiosity and desire to travel and the chance to help them with my medical expertise. these notes are from those travels. I am a professor at the University of Havana
