HAIL TO THE COURAGE OF OUR IRANIAN BROTHERS
AND SISTERS
The Islamic Republic of Iran recently held
a Presidential Election. There were many candidates all but one of whom were in
the conservative wing, one more Islamist and conservative than the other. Because
it is not a transparent government and it is a theocracy, it was widely
believed that the one who was closest to the all-powerful Ayatollah would
easily win the elections. The reform candidates from the previous elections
held four years ago are still under house arrest.
Imagine the courage of the Iranian voters
with a vast majority who were born after the 1979 overthrow of Shah of Iran.
They overwhelmingly voted for the Reform oriented Cleric, Rohani.
What we have to understand that the young
people had so much courage that they gave a clear message to the Government.
Listen, Mullahs, your time is finished,
Good People of Iran want change. Can you imagine a Presidential election
anywhere else in the world, where the leading candidate gets 18 million votes
and the next candidate gets six million? What does it mean? Iranians who are
not violent (cant be said of their government) want a change and they are not
like the Arabs or the Turks wanting a Violent Change, which has resulted in two
regional dictators, Morsi in Egypt and Erdogan in Turkey, both allied to the
conservative Islamist parties.
(MESSAGE TO THE MULLAHS: WE SAID, ROHANI)
I congratulate you, all of you, my Iranian brothers
and sisters. You are a people steeped in history and in my opinion the most
educated, the most sophisticated people in the entire Moslem world! You deserve
a better future, a better participation in the global life.
And I hope that you would remember what
Bernard Lewis has pointed out as the two major weaknesses in Islamic Societies.
UNEQUAL TREATMENT OF WOMEN
OPPRESSION OF MINORITIES LIVING AMONG
MOSLEMS
I am hopeful that soon enough Iran would be
a FREE society and join its deserved rank among the Family of Nations.
